Project Overview
Engineering Solutions provided preliminary design and drafting services for proposed slab penetrations at a high-end coastal condominium unit at 130 Sun & Surf in Palm Beach, FL undergoing a residential renovation. Scope included a thorough review of existing as-built drawings, establishment of key design load assumptions, and initial structural analysis to evaluate the impact on the existing reinforced concrete slab system. Utilizing structural sketches and load path verification, we developed preliminary slab detailing to ensure compliance with building code requirements and maintain slab integrity around new MEP routing.
The Challenge
Cutting new MEP penetrations through an existing reinforced concrete slab system in an occupied oceanfront condominium without compromising slab integrity or load path continuity.
