Project Overview
Engineering Solutions is providing concrete rehabilitation services for the Unit 108/208 balcony at Sunny Court in Pompano Beach, Florida. The scope consists of an in-depth analysis of the existing system to determine the magnitude of repairs required. The balcony was observed to have cracking and spalling caused by corrosion of the internal reinforcement. Engineering Solutions analyzes the existing system, determines the appropriate repairs and procedures, and designs the retrofit. During construction the area is temporarily shored to safely secure the structure, after which the contractor carries out the repair procedure prepared by Engineering Solutions.
The Challenge
Cracking and spalling from corrosion of the internal reinforcement in an occupied building, requiring the balcony to stay safely supported throughout demolition and repair.
